My first two trips to Moab were in early July. It was HOT. When I took this picture just before noon at the start of my Roberts Mesa hike, it must have been in the 90s. Reaching the summit of Roberts Mesa was fun, as it fulfilled a desire that was born when I first saw the feature in 2002. Roberts Mesa is just east of Dewey and is clearly visible from the highway.
Some of my equipment has been retired. The camara holster on the hood has been replaced (zipper broke). The boots have been retired (tread wore out). My cotton pants have been relgated to yard work (sweaty cotton takes forever to dry). The cotton-polyester shirt—retired from office duty—has been replaced by nylon shirts (nylon dries faster).
